A long and flat trail that follows the south side of the Erie (Barge) Canal. Trail is entirely paved save for a few hundred feet of gravel. The trail passes over a canal lock and several boat launches/docks.
Passes directly underneath the large 'UTICA' tower.
Lots of parking at either end at River Rd. in Oriskany or near Aqua Vita on Genesee St in North Utica. There is also space mid-route at the RT 291.
Trails branch off to head towards the SUNY POLY Campus and another that heads south into downtown Utica near the intersection with Rt 12/49.
