Loop
The Egypt and Rim Loop begins at the marked parking area off Egypt Road in the Black River Environmental Improvement Area (BREIA). Head northeast from the trailhead and follow signs for the Glacier Trail, which meanders through mixed hardwood forest with occasional seasonal streams. After a short distance, cross Egypt Road and continue onto the Rim Trail, which climbs gently to follow the edge of a glacial ridgeline. This segment offers the best views of the route, with intermittent openings in the canopy revealing glimpses of the surrounding plateau.
Follow the Rim Trail as it loops west, eventually crossing Egypt road and returning to the parking area. Trails are well-marked and maintained, with only modest elevation change and a few uneven sections. This route is open year-round but may be muddy in spring and fall; in winter, the trails are groomed for cross-country skiing. The highlight of this route is the quiet forest setting and occasional scenic vantage points along the ridge.
