Description
The Little Rock Pond Trail begins at the trailhead on Danby Road and follows a well-maintained path through mixed hardwood and spruce–fir forest to the shore of Little Rock Pond. The route climbs gently along a gradual grade, crossing several small feeder streams before reaching the junction with the Long Trail/Appalachian Trail near the pond’s north end. A junction leads to the Little Rock Pond Shelter and nearby tent platforms, which sit just above the water’s edge. This is a popular day hike and backpacking route in the Green Mountain National Forest, especially during peak fall foliage. The pond offers reliable water (filter or treat recommended) and opportunities for spotting loons, moose, and other wildlife. Campfires are allowed only in designated rings near the shelter. The route returns the way it came, making for a scenic and approachable backcountry outing.
