The trail begins at Homer Stone Trailhead, and leads east through mixed hardwood and conifer forest to the shores of Little Rock Pond. The route follows a well-defined path with occasional rocky and root-covered sections. At several points, small feeder streams cross the trail—footing may be slick during wet weather.
The trail intersects the Appalachian/Long Trail and the Green Mountain Trail at Little Rock Pond. Several primitive shelters and designated campsites spread around the pond offer overnight options. Moose and bird sightings are possible, especially near the water’s edge. Fires are allowed only in established fire rings, and all food should be secured in bear-resistant containers or hung properly. Return via the same route. This is a rewarding day hike in the Green Mountain National Forest with easy access to one of the region’s more tranquil backcountry ponds.
