Loop
The Wilderness Blue and White Trail Loop begins from the parking area on Jackson Street along the western edge of Rollin T. Grant Gulf Wilderness Park in Lockport, NY. From the trailhead, follow the blue-blazed path as it winds through mixed hardwood forest and descends gradually toward a creekbed. The route loops through rugged terrain with uneven footing, exposed roots, and occasional rocky sections. In wetter months, hikers may encounter small waterfalls and flowing water in the creek, which the trail crosses more than once—often without bridges. Turn onto the white-blazed segment about halfway through to complete the loop and return to the starting point.
Trail markings can be inconsistent, especially near the white trail junction, so it's helpful to bring a GPS map. In drier seasons, the creek may run low or dry, but in spring or after heavy rain, crossings can be tricky. Despite its modest length, this route offers a quiet, low-use hiking experience with a surprisingly wild feel for a city park.
