Description
The Sullivans Knob Trail begins at the Sullivan's Knob Overlook parking area, located off the main park road in Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. This short, easy route follows a well-defined path through dry, open terrain to a broad, rocky viewpoint perched above Bighorn Lake. From the overlook, hikers can take in expansive views of the lake and surrounding canyon walls, with excellent opportunities for birdwatching—especially raptors and cliff swallows. The trail is straightforward with minimal elevation gain, but caution is advised near the edge of the overlook, where steep drop-offs are unprotected. Dogs are allowed on leash, this is a rewarding stop for those seeking quick day hikes in Bighorn Canyon.
