Denton Sanctuary Loop

The Denton Sanctuary Loop begins from a small trailhead off Route 4, just north of the Hudson River crossing in the Town of Greenwich. This short, well-marked route winds through forest, wetland, and shale barrens, offering several branching options via the Blue and Orange spur loops. Hikers can stay on the Yellow Trail to complete the main loop, with opportunities to extend the outing on either spur. The trail follows mostly gentle grades, crossing old canal and trolley corridors and passing through habitat known for birdwatching and wildlife viewing. The route is easy to follow and family-friendly, with minimal elevation changes and a mix of shaded woods and open wetland edges.
