This route begins at the parking area along the west side of Edie Road in the Town of Wilton and follows a flat, well-marked path through the Edie Road County Forest. Start on the White Trail heading west into a red pine plantation before reaching a Y-intersection where the route turns left onto the Yellow Trail. From here, the trail passes through a mix of hardwood forest and red-maple swamp habitat. At the next marked junction, continue onto the Red Trail, which loops through open meadow areas before reconnecting with the Red Trail and returning to the White Trail for the walk back to the trailhead. For a longer loop turn left to meet an additional segment of the Red Trail that will loop back around and reconnect with the main White Trail.
The route follows wide multi-use paths and former logging roads, making it suitable for hikers, bikers, and winter users. Wood carvings and benches crafted by a local trail steward add character along the way. Wet conditions are common in spring, and wildlife sightings — including deer tracks and bird activity — are likely throughout the year. The trail also passes through critical habitat for the endangered Karner blue butterfly, especially in the open sandy clearings.
