The Dashney–Magill–Trillium route begins and ends at the Dashney Trailhead on Dashney Road, just outside East Burke. From the trailhead, backtrack along the road then follow Dashney Trail through mixed hardwood forest, climbing gently before reaching a signed junction. Turn left to head to Magill Fields Trail. The spruce-fir woods give way to the open meadows of Magill Fields, where views open up and moose or deer are occasionally spotted. After crossing the fields, the route enters more shaded terrain and connects with Trillium Trail, which rolls through quiet forest and seasonal creek drainages toward the starting point.
This moderate route is mostly narrow singletrack with uneven footing and steady elevation change. Portions cross private and leased land managed by the Kingdom Trails Association, including segments that overlap with mountain biking trails. Stay alert and yield as needed. Seasonal access varies; trails typically open in mid-May and close by late October, with closures during mud season. Carry insect repellent during the warmer months and bring your own water. This quiet loop offers a peaceful way to explore the Northeast Kingdom’s classic forest terrain.
