The Trapper Park Trail is a nice way to spend an hour or two on a nice walk/hike that doesn't require you to leave the city. It is almost completely paved except a short spot right by the park that is gravel but still fine for a stroller. We have spent several evenings on this trail and it's always nice. You get up close views of the Logan River, the surrounding mountains, and the river wetlands. The trail starts at the Icon Health and Fitness building on 1000 west and ends at Trapper Park. There is also a new connector trail that goes from Icon to Rendezvous Park to connect the Logan River Trail making a lot of options. Trapper Park is located at 1500 S. 1600 W. The trail is 0.8 miles one way from Icon to the park. There is a playground here as well. This is a very family friendly walk and it's right on the river much of the way. The trail immediately goes underneath 10th west starting at the Icon parking lot. There are many interpretive signs along this trail talking about different birds, wildlife, and plants that can be seen in the wetlands you are hiking through. In the beginning there are horse fields on both sides with nice views of the Wellsvilles. There are a couple spots where boardwalks have been built through the marsh. My day was complete when we saw one of my all time favorite creatures along the river. Great Horned Owls are usually pretty nervous around people but she didn't seem bothered in the slightest. The river always flows nice and high in May. Eventually you will make it to Trapper Park. This is a great spot to relax for a few minutes as it has the river on two sides and a large open lawn. This is a great way to spend an evening. It's a peaceful walk that just about anyone can do.
