Loop
The Summit Lodge Loop begins and ends near the Okemo Mountain Ski Resort base area. The route can be followed in either direction, offering a forested trek through Okemo State Forest. From the trailhead, the path climbs steadily through a mix of hardwoods and conifers, with short steep sections and some rocky footing typical of Class 2 terrain. After the ascent, the route passes through denser spruce stands before reaching the Summit Lodge, a highpoint offering wide views of surrounding Green Mountain ridges.
The two trails intersect shortly before the summit. After enjoying the summit vista, head back to the intersection and to complete the loop, taking care on sections that may be slick when wet. Moose and black bear activity is possible in this area—stay aware and keep dogs leashed. This route is best completed between May and October, when the trail is mostly dry and Vermont’s iconic fall foliage is in full color. No reliable water is available along the trail, so carry a full supply.
