Beginning near the warming hut area along Chapman Lake in Chapman State Park, this route connects the Hunters Ridge Trail, Warming Hut Trail, and a short section of park road to form a continuous loop. From the warming hut, head southwest on the wide forest road and turn right onto the Hunters Ridge Trail. The trail climbs gently and follows a northeasterly path along the ridge above the lake, offering a quiet, wooded hike with occasional filtered views. As the trail descends back toward the park office area, turn right again onto the Warming Hut Trail. From here, follow the park road briefly before returning to the warming hut and completing the loop.
Trail conditions vary from smooth, maintained tread to sections that may be muddy or overgrown—especially on the ridge after wet weather. There are small creek crossings and seasonal wet areas, but no reliable water sources, so plan to carry your own. Open year-round and best hiked from spring through fall, this route offers a peaceful walk through Pennsylvania hardwood forest with just enough elevation change to keep things interesting.
