Parish and Derby Loop

The route begins from a small parking area off Silcox Road and follows the Red-marked Parish Trail into a hardwood forest filled with hemlocks, pines, and seasonal leaf cover. After a short distance, the trail reaches a junction with the Yellow-blazed Derby Path—turn right here to continue the loop. The terrain rolls gently with a few moderate climbs as it winds through quiet woodland, crossing a small creek near the trailhead and passing occasional muddy sections or exposed roots and rocks, especially under leaves. Wildlife signage near the register has mentioned bear activity, so staying alert is a good idea. The trail is open year-round and allows hiking, trail running, and leashed dogs, though conditions can vary with the seasons.
