Description
The Anchor Diamond Park Outer Loop begins and ends at the main parking lot on Middleline Road, just outside Ballston, NY. This easy route follows a linked series of named trails—Stonewall, Hackwood, Hemlock, and Old Field—to form a continuous circuit through mixed hardwood forest. Starting from the trailhead kiosk, follow the Hackwood Trail past interpretive signs and shaded wetlands. At the first major junction, veer right onto Stonewall Trail. After a short distance, turn right onto Hemlock Trail and continue as it curves through quieter woodland. Stay right at the next junction to merge onto Old Field Trail, which leads gently back toward the starting point. This route is well-marked and mostly level, with firm footing and only minor roots and rocks. Seasonal streambeds may appear after heavy rain, but the trail is typically dry in summer. Keep an eye out for deer, frogs, and songbirds along the way. A peaceful, accessible option for short day hikes in upstate New York’s woodlands.
