The 100 Acre Wood Loop begins at a trailhead off Luther Forrest Blvd south of Saratoga Springs. This Class 1 route winds through a mixed hardwood forest on wide, well-maintained trails managed by Saratoga PLAN. From the trailhead, follow the main loop trail, where several short spur paths branch off, allowing hikers to customize the route’s length and direction. Boardwalks cross wetland sections early in the hike, offering easy passage through otherwise muddy ground—especially common in spring or after rain.
Interpretive signs appear at intervals, highlighting local ecology and encouraging visitors to pause and look for wildlife such as deer and migratory songbirds. The terrain remains mostly flat throughout, making it ideal for a relaxed walk or short snowshoe in winter. While the route is open year-round, the best hiking conditions occur between spring and fall. The route’s appeal lies in its simplicity—an easy day hike in upstate New York with forest shade, seasonal wildflowers, and quiet woodland scenery.
