Point to Point
The Oakley Corners Blue Loop begins from the main trailhead on Dutchtown Road in Oakley Corners State Forest, just outside Owego. From the parking area, follow the marked path northward into a quiet forest dominated by mixed hardwoods. The trail offers mostly gentle grades with a few root-covered and occasionally muddy segments, especially in spring. At early junctions, stay right to follow the loop in a counterclockwise direction.
This route is part of a larger multi-use trail system, with mountain biking permitted, so hikers should remain alert at blind corners. Seasonal creeks may flow in wetter months, but water is typically scarce—carry in what you need or be prepared to treat water from nearby sources. Primitive camping is allowed if set back from trails and streams, and campfires are permitted per DEC regulations. Tick activity can be high in warmer months, so appropriate precautions are recommended. This loop offers a peaceful option for day hikers or casual outings in the Southern Tier, with low foot traffic and access to additional connecting trails.
