Loop
Wolfe Park Loop begins near the entrance off Dorman Road in the Town of Chenango and winds through a municipal forest preserve using a combination of color-coded trails, typically starting on the Blue Trail and connecting to White, Bluebird, and Rim Red routes. From the start, the path passes benches, a gazebo, and nature signs before entering a wooded hillside. A short way in, a spur on the Blue Trail leads to a small seasonal waterfall, which usually flows strongest in spring or after heavy rain. Several wooden footbridges cross Dorman Creek and its tributaries, and the terrain features minor elevation changes, muddy stretches, and occasional root-covered sections.
Stay alert at junctions—some trails share color markers, and the layout can be confusing. The Bluebird Trail traverses higher ground and offers occasional views through the trees before dropping back toward the lower loop. Trails are open year-round during daylight hours and are used for hiking, birding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing in winter. The full route can be adjusted based on conditions, but it reliably offers a quiet walk through mixed hardwood forest with light climbs and peaceful scenery close to Binghamton.
