Point to Point
This moderate route begins and ends at the Allison Hill Parking Area in Jenksville State Forest. From the trailhead, follow the main path as it weaves through a mix of oak, maple, and beech forest typical of the Southern Tier. The route rolls over gentle hills and includes a few short climbs with uneven footing, especially on wetter stretches. There are several unmarked junctions—stay on the most well-worn path and use a GPS or map for orientation.
The trail passes through quiet, lightly trafficked backcountry where you may encounter deer, wild turkey, or other wildlife. A few seasonal streams cross the route but should not be relied on for water. Expect occasional muddy or overgrown areas, particularly in early spring or after rain. This area is open to hunting in season, so wearing blaze orange is strongly recommended in the fall.
The route offers a peaceful walk in forested terrain with enough variety to keep things interesting, especially for those seeking solitude on day hikes in Central New York.
