Loop
The Logan Hill Loop begins and ends at the Logan Hill Nature Preserve parking area off Logan Road near Candor, NY. From the trailhead, follow the clearly marked path into a mature oak-hickory forest. The route gradually winds through gentle terrain, making it suitable for novice hikers and families. Along the way, interpretive signs provide insight into the area's ecology and conservation. At several points along the trail, short spurs or clearings offer wide views of the Susquehanna River Valley below.
There are no junctions to navigate beyond staying on the main loop, which returns to the parking area. Although the route is easy, trail surfaces may become muddy or slick during wet or snowy conditions. Wildlife is active year-round, and birdwatchers will find seasonal variety in species. There are no water sources on the trail, so hikers should bring their own. Dogs are welcome on leash. This short, well-maintained route is a peaceful option for day hikes near Ithaca and the Southern Tier.
