The Beavers Meadow Trail begins at the Beaver Meadow Trailhead on Beaver Meadow Road near Morristown, VT, and ends at the meadow below Whiteface Mountain. This moderate backcountry route follows a gentle but steady incline through dense boreal forest, with several muddy or rocky stretches common in wetter months. From the trailhead, hikers will pass a few small stream crossings and skirt the edge of Beaver Meadow Brook—an area known for moose and beaver activity. Dispersed camping is allowed along the route for those following Leave No Trace principles, but campfires are generally prohibited in summer due to fire danger.
Near its end, the trail climbs slightly more steeply before reaching the junction with the Long Trail, offering options for longer hikes or a summit push toward Whiteface Mountain’s rugged ridgeline. This is a quiet, less-traveled route in the Mt. Mansfield State Forest, ideal for experienced hikers seeking solitude. Be prepared for changing trail conditions, and carry bear precautions and tick protection during summer months.
