Begin this route from the informal parking area off Borough Road near Acworth, New Hampshire, at approximately 43°16'11.2"N, 72°21'19.7"W. From the trailhead, follow the path as it enters mixed hardwood and hemlock forest, heading east toward Halls Pond. The route gently descends before reaching the pond’s edge, where it begins to trace the shoreline in a counterclockwise direction. A short distance in, you’ll encounter a rocky brook crossing that may be slick or flooded during spring runoff or icy in winter. After the crossing, the trail continues along relatively flat terrain with occasional uneven footing through forest and scattered rock fields.
Stay left at minor trail forks to maintain the main loop around the pond. The southern end of the trail passes a concrete and earthen dam, offering a wide view across the water and surrounding wetland. Wildlife is frequently spotted here—especially waterfowl during migration seasons and occasional moose or deer in the quieter hours. Snowmobiling is permitted on sections of the trail in winter, and traction is recommended if snow or ice is present. This is a quiet, moderate route ideal for hikers looking for a scenic forest walk with varied terrain and wildlife interest in southwestern New Hampshire.
