Description
This route begins at a small gravel lot at the end of Summer Street in Newport and climbs gradually through mixed forest toward The Pinnacle. The trail weaves along a network of forest roads and singletrack paths, with several junctions where a GPS or trail map can help stay on course. After a steady ascent, reach the summit of The Pinnacle where views are limited but nearby ledges offer better vantage points. Continue from the summit toward Coit Mountain, a more open ridgeline feature with directional views over the surrounding valleys. Trails here may be muddy or slippery in wet conditions, and rocks and roots make some sections moderately challenging. The descent wraps around through quieter wooded terrain to complete the route. This is a solid option for a moderate day hike in southern New Hampshire with year-round access and varied terrain.
