Description
Mount Sunapee is a popular place to visit year round and is located within Mount Sunapee State Park, where youall find a campground and beach as well as hiking and downhill skiing trails at the Mount Sunapee Resort. Once the snow melts and summer hits, the mountain is turned into an adventure park that includes miniature golf, a challenge course, a zip-line, mountain biking, and more. Hikers take to the trails and enjoy the views overlooking Lake Sunapee from the top. A popular route to the summit is via the Summit Trail, which begins behind Sunapee Lodge, where thereas plenty of parking. The trail travels through the woods with easy to moderate grades and brings you out behind the Summit Lodge and Sunapee Express chairlift. If youare not much of a hiker, you can opt to take this chairlift to and from the summit. Once youare on the summit, take a walk around and explore the area, as there are different viewpoints and a trail that leads to White Ledges and Lake Solitude. Yoga classes are offered once or twice a week from June through October, and they require the purchase of a ticket in the Adventure Center. Once youare ready to head back down, choose between returning the way you came on the Summit Trail or looping back to your car by ski trails. The wide, open ski trails offer views for much of the way down. Just be sure to consult a map of the ski trails if you want to ensure a more direct route back.
