Description
Begin this route from the parking area near the Little Sunapee Lake boat launch and walk across Little Sunapee Road to pick up the Yellow Trail. This path follows a small brook and climbs steadily through mixed hardwood forest before meeting the Blue Trail. Stay right at the junction and continue on the Blue Trail as it rolls through wooded terrain and eventually intersects the Red Trail across Burnt Hill Road. For a longer outing, follow the Red Trail north through deeper forest before retracing your steps to the Orange Trail junction. Take the Orange Blossom Trail to complete the loop. This trail rises gently before descending back toward Little Sunapee Road through mature forest. The route returns to the starting point near the boat launch. Along the way, hikers will encounter quiet woods, mossy ground, and glimpses of wetlands fed by the lake’s outlet streams. This is a great option for low-elevation day hikes near New London with year-round access, including snowshoeing in winter.
