Starting from the signed trailhead off a small pullout near Enfield, the John’s Glen Trail System begins on John’s Glen Trail #9, heading south through a mix of hardwoods and evergreens. After a short distance, take the John’s Glen Extension heading north and around to reach a series of connected loops. Stay left to enter the Balsam Loop, then continue into the Blueberry Loop, where seasonal patches of lowbush blueberries and open understory make this section especially scenic in late summer.
Return to Trail #9 and continue southwest toward the Aspen Loop before connecting to the Hemlock Loop. This final section winds through shaded forest with mature evergreens and quiet wetland areas nearby. Complete the route by retracing Trail #9 back to the trailhead.
This network of trails offers a variety of loop options with rolling terrain, good footing, and opportunities for solitude. Moose and deer sightings are possible, and seasonal brooks add interest, especially in spring. A trail map is recommended due to frequent junctions and overlapping loops.
