Description
The Sentinel Rock Trail begins from the parking area at Sentinel Rock State Park off Hinton Hill Road. The route follows a gentle, well-marked path through fields and mixed hardwood forest, where interpretive signs describe forest management and conservation efforts. The namesake rock, a glacial erratic, is located near the eastern parking lot. Just beyond the rock, a short spur leads to an overlook on a low hill. After returning from the overlook, continue following the main route as it loops through open meadow and regenerating woodland before turning back to the trailhead. The footing is mostly smooth, though intermittent short rocky stretches require attention. This easy, family-friendly route offers a short walk with rewarding scenery and insight into Vermont’s working landscape.
