Loop
The Road’s End Wildlife Sanctuary Loop begins at the end of Corbett Street in Worthington, MA. This short, easy route makes a well-graded loop through white pine forest, passing subtle signs of the land’s farming past, including stone walls and old cellar holes. At a Y-intersection a short distance from the trailhead, hikers can continue around the Nancy Weiss loop or extend the outing by turning east onto the Brookside Trail.
The Brookside Trail connects back to the starting point and adds variety with gentle terrain and possible seasonal features like vernal pools or small streams, though they may be dry during warmer or drier months. The entire route is open year-round, but note that the road to the trailhead is not maintained in winter or during mud season. Dogs are not permitted anywhere along this route. With low foot traffic and easy grades, this short loop offers a peaceful walk ideal for birding or a short outing in the Hilltowns.
