Point to Point
Starting from the Old Rootville Road Trailhead just outside Manchester, this route follows a gradual but steady climb through the Green Mountain National Forest to the scenic Prospect Rock Vista. The trail begins on a gravel forest road, transitioning quickly to a wide, wooded path lined with hardwoods and moss-covered rocks. At the first junction, stay straight to continue ascending toward the overlook. The path gains elevation at a moderate rate, crossing old drainage areas and weaving through thick stands of trees.
There are no reliable water sources along the way, so hikers should carry enough for the entire trip. Spring wildflowers often line the trail, and wildlife sightings, including moose and black bears, are possible. Prospect Rock Vista offers a broad view north over the Manchester Valley and surrounding peaks, making it a rewarding turnaround point. This is a quiet, shaded hike ideal for late spring through fall, with limited maintenance during winter months.
