Description
The Lye Brook Falls Trail begins at the trailhead off Glen Road near Manchester, Vermont, and follows a steady route into the Green Mountain National Forest. From the parking area, the trail starts gradually, then steeps with sections of uneven footing and intermittent roots and rocks. The route parallels Lye Brook for much of the way, offering occasional sounds and glimpses of moving water through dense boreal forest. After the climb, look for the spur leading to Lye Brook Falls—a 125-foot cascade dropping through a shaded ravine. This is one of the tallest waterfalls in Vermont and a rewarding destination for day hikes in the Green Mountains. The return follows the same route. Be prepared for slick footing near the falls, especially after rain, and consider microspikes in winter conditions.
