Starting at the trailhead, a 1/2-mile relatively flat doubletrack trail leads to the Morrison Trail Loop. Veer right and follow for a couple of tenths of a mile to the Rimrock Trail Loop. Turn right here and begin the ascent. There are plenty of rocky areas throughout this hike, so stay on your toes instead of your face! The Rimrock Trail Loop heads west-southwest dropping close to the Allegheny Reservoir at 3.5 miles in. Leave the trail and head down to the rocky beach to take in the sights! Returning to the trail, you'll stay on the slopes following the contour of the Reservoir. Approximately 6 miles in there will be a connector trail going down to a campground. From here, the trail gets wet! Rushing streams with crossings that you likely can not stay dry for, dominate this area. It is a beautiful and peaceful place. Follow the stream up slope through massive moss covered boulders and streams until meeting the Morrison Trail Loop. Turn left and follow the trail around for a 5.3 mile loop!
