The Kinzua Valley Trail begins near Westline and travels through the Allegheny National Forest along a gentle, crushed-stone path. This rail-trail traces the old Valley Railroad grade, making it well-suited for hiking, biking, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing. From the Westline Trailhead, the route parallels Kinzua Creek through a quiet, forested corridor with benches and opportunities to spot wildlife. At Red Bridge Recreation Area, hikers can access the trail near SR 321 beside the Allegheny River. Additional access is available at Tally Ho and other points along the growing corridor.
The trail remains mostly level throughout, making it accessible year-round for a wide range of non-motorized activities. Electric-powered wheelchairs are permitted, and equestrian use is allowed on designated sections. The route is part of a long-term regional project to connect with Kinzua Bridge State Park, eventually forming a much longer trail system through the Pennsylvania Wilds.
