The Tracy Ridge Hiking Trail System begins at the trailhead next to Tracy Ridge Campground, off Hwy. 321 in western McKean County. From the campground, head west on Tracy Ridge Trail, then turn left onto Land of Many Uses Trail. After a short distance, turn right onto Nelse Ridge Trail and continue through mixed hardwood forest along a gradual ridge. At the next junction, turn right onto Sugar Run Trail and follow it downhill through hemlock groves and rocky slopes as it veers west to meet the shore of Allegheny Reservoir, then turns north following the shoreline. Continue onto the North Country National Scenic Trail, passing intermittent water views and crossing steep slopes near the hillside.
To complete the route, turn right onto Tracy Ridge Trail and climb steadily back toward the campground. This interconnected system supports a variety of hiking styles, from day hikes to multi-day backpacking trips, with designated campsites scattered throughout the network. Although the trail descends near the reservoir, camping is not permitted within 1,500 feet of the shoreline. Wildlife encounters are common, and steep, rocky terrain adds challenge to several sections. Whether exploring a short segment or hiking the full route, this system offers a scenic and varied hiking experience in the Allegheny National Forest.
