Loop
The Beacon Hill Loop begins at a trailhead off Wright Reservoir Road in Hartford, Vermont, and forms a moderate hiking route through forested terrain managed by the Town of Hartford Conservation Commission. From the parking area, follow the well-marked path as it gently climbs through a mix of hardwoods. The trail ascends gradually, with a few short, steeper sections as you approach the summit area. Around the halfway point, a small clearing offers limited but scenic views of the Upper Valley, especially when foliage is sparse.
Continuing past the summit, the route descends steadily before meeting the initial junction again. Minor stream crossings may be present along the way and can be slick in wet conditions. This trail is open year-round, but snow and spring mud can affect footing. Expect vibrant birdlife during spring and summer months. There are no reliable water sources along the loop, and ticks are common in warmer weather—plan accordingly. This easy to moderate hike rewards with a peaceful forest setting and a quiet summit overlook.
