There and Back
The Jamie Latham Trail begins at Latham Trailhead off Old Athens Road outside Westminster, Vermont, and climbs steadily through mixed hardwood forest to reach The Pinnacle. From the trailhead, the path ascends gradually before steepening as it gains elevation along a wooded ridgeline. Make sure to stay on the trail toward The Pinnacle rather than branching onto connecting trails managed by WHPA.
The route includes several short, steeper sections with exposed roots and rocks, typical of moderate day hikes in southern Vermont. Along the way, watch for wildlife signs such as moose tracks and abundant bird activity, especially in spring and fall. The trail ends at The Pinnacle, a scenic overlook with panoramic views of Mount Monadnock, the Green Mountains, and the forested hills of the Connecticut River Valley.
There are no reliable water sources along the route, and conditions can be muddy after rain or icy in winter—appropriate footwear is recommended. This is a rewarding, moderate hike best completed in the fall for foliage views or on a clear summer day for expansive visibility.
