The Laurel Mill Cross‑Country Ski & Hiking Trail System begins at the main trailhead on Spring Creek Road, about 3 miles west of Ridgway in Pennsylvania’s Elk County. From the trailhead, this route heads north, staying right on Elk Loop before turning right onto Scout Loop. Continue by turning right again onto Hemlock Loop, which climbs through wooded ridges before curving back to reconnect with the opposite side of Scout and Elk Loops. Remain right at each junction to return to the trailhead and complete the northern portion.
Next, cross Township Road 307 to begin the southern half of the route on the Laurel Mill Trail. Stay left onto Perseverance Loop, then continue left onto One Mile Loop and Sparrow Nest Loop. These southern trails travel through quiet hollows, dense hardwood stands, and sections known for wildlife activity. Keep left at each junction to return to the trailhead and close the full route across both trail sections. This connected route offers rolling forest terrain, seasonal variety, and peaceful surroundings for hiking, skiing, or snowshoeing in the southeast portion of Allegheny National Forest.
