Description
Starting from the Cedar Point County Park trailhead, this route travels through coastal woodlands and skirts sandy shoreline as it makes its way toward the 19th-century Cedar Island Lighthouse. Stay on the main trail heading northeast from the trailhead and continue past a few small connectors before reaching the narrow peninsula that leads to the lighthouse. At the point, enjoy wide views across Gardiners Bay, especially during low tide when exposed sandbars appear offshore. The return route follows the same general path along the opposite side of the peninsula, eventually reconnecting to the trailhead area. This low-elevation hike offers classic Long Island scenery, frequent wildlife sightings, and easy access for families or casual hikers.
