Loop
The Brooks Preserve Loop begins and ends at the Quaker Drive trailhead, where roadside parking provides easy access. From the trailhead, head west on Burns Farm Trail, entering a quiet, forested landscape managed by The Trustees of Reservations. Continue past junctions with Tumbledown East, Dudley Trail, and Tumbledown North. At the Sackett's Harbor Trail junction, turn right to cross the East Branch of the Swift River. Shortly after the bridge, make another right onto Cornell Trail.
Stay on the main trail as it winds through interior woods, passing junctions with Jerry's Trail and Johnson Trail before circling back to Sackett's Harbor Trail. After crossing the bridge again, turn right onto Big Pine Trail, which leads back to the starting point. Along the way, hikers pass wetlands, wildflowers, and historic stonework that hint at the area’s agricultural past. Hikers have the option of shortening this loop by taking a combination of the interior connector trails. The terrain is mostly gentle, though muddy spots and slippery footing near water are possible during wet seasons. This easy route is open year-round and offers a peaceful walk through streamside forest and quiet interior trails.
