Description
The car park is minimal on a residential street, but felt really safe. The hike starts with a stair climb to a pedestrian bridge across the interstate. While very sturdy and safe, the hike across the grated surface with traffic zipping underneath was a bit unnerving. After landing on solid ground, it is pretty much a straight up hike to the summit. The path interweaves with the old rail bed that the trail is named for. The summit has spectacular views of Lake George and the surrounding area. Read up on the history of Prospect Mountain.
