A must do route for the area handpicked by local experts.
Enchanted Mountain Road crosses private timberland with permitted public access and can be rough after storms. No permit is required, but active logging trucks use nearby roads.
Path Type
There and Back
This route starts and ends at the old ski area base along Enchanted Mountain Road. From the parking area, follow the road to the right (facing the mountain) for 0.2 mile to a sharp bend, then continue straight onto an unmarked, rocky fire road — a former ski run and snowmobile trail — climbing steeply for about 0.9 mile to a small radio tower atop the old double chairlift line.
Stay on the fire road past the cairned footpath junction just beyond the tower, continuing on this wider, more gradual grade as it wraps around the mountain's southwest ridge for about 1 mile to the open summit, where a radio tower, a Quonset hut, a solar array, and an old fire tower's observation deck share the rocky top.
Retrace the same fire road back to the trailhead for a total round trip of about 3.6 miles.
