Trail Overview
Rat River Road - FS 2134 is a well-maintained gravel forest road. This trail is just under two vehicles wide for its entire length. The trail passes along miles of gentle rolling hills with long, sweeping corners. Surrounded by dense forest full of a variety of hardwoods, as well as softwoods, this trail is perfect for a gentle fall cruise. Thick undergrowth surrounds the edges of the trail, obscuring the lower view of the forest, as well as moderately obstructing some of the trail's sharper corners. The surface of the trail is hard-packed gravel with a thin layer of loose and dispersed gravel on top. This is a great surface for all vehicles to drive on and holds up well under most conditions. During times of drought, dust can become a concern. Cell service in this area is generally good, but if you're looking to explore other areas, downloaded maps should be considered, as service around the area can be spotty.
Difficulty
This trail can be completed by all experience levels of riders. The trail is well-maintained by the local towns. Due to the loose gravel, certain parts of the trail can easily push vehicles around during times of extreme drought. In addition, this can also create a considerable amount of dust. The trail has great visibility throughout, as well as semi-maintained ditch lines that could be used to pull off.
