Trail Overview

FS 2387 is a large, mostly two-lane gravel forest road that runs from its intersection with Dick Samz Road to its northern intersection with FS 2166. This forest road is mostly straight with only a couple of small curves; however, there is a good mix of gentle rolling elevation changes that add a lot of scenic views to this area. If looking for scenic views, this trail is the best road in the fall from north to south. As the trail approaches its southern intersection, there are a couple of open fields atop a hill, which provide good views of part of the surrounding area. This trail can also be useful for ATV's and SxS looking to make a loop from the west side of Crandon to the East side. Traditionally, the loop needs to be completed by running the Nicolet State Trail, but this road acts as a shortcut and can be used to navigate into the Forest County land just east of Crandon. There is a large variety of trees in these surrounding areas, as well as on this trail, which gives lots of different colored leaves in the fall months. Several small bridges on this trail are not wide enough to accommodate two vehicles. The ditch lines are moderately clear, allowing for some space for traffic to pull over and allow passage of other vehicles. Cell service in this area is generally acceptable but can become slow during peak summer months. Traveling with downloaded maps is not needed but is advised for individuals less familiar with the area.

Difficulty

This trail is very modest and can accommodate individuals of all skill levels. Sightlines on the trail are excellent, and the hills are not steep enough for ruts to form after rainfall. The trail is two vehicles wide for most of its length, but the bridges on the trail are narrow and can only accommodate one vehicle.
