Trail Overview
Forest Road 2388 is a two-track, there-and-back style trail perfect for anyone looking to do some remote dispersed camping or for someone looking for a mildly rugged trail to ride. This trail starts and ends at its intersection with FS 2387. The trail navigates across a large ridge, there are no scenic lookouts that can be seen from the trail, but the ridge does provide some moderate washouts along the trail, as well as some mildly technical sections that need to be navigated to reach the trail's end point. This trail has several small mud holes located on the eastern end of the trail, as well as a moderate washout caused by runoff. This portion of the trail has many large holes that can create a very bumpy ride. As the trail begins to navigate up the ridge, it becomes much more overgrown and loses many of the bumps associated with the first section of the trail. It then develops several ruts and washouts that run parallel to the trail. These are under 8 inches deep but do provide a moderate challenge to less capable vehicles. The end of the trail has a very small turnaround which could be used for remote camping. The cell service for this trail is acceptable at the trail head for this trail but diminishes as the trail progresses. While downloaded maps are not needed, they are advised to ensure a wrong turn onto an old logging road does not take place.
Difficulty
This is a narrow two-track trail that will require vehicles to pull over to allow for passage. There are several mud holes located on the first half of the trail. These are typically under 12 inches deep, depending on recent rainfall. There is a washout that runs perpendicular to the trail and has a depth of roughly 10 inches. Several ruts and washouts run parallel to the trail as it ascends this ridge side.
