Trail Overview

Yakima Pass runs through the Wenatchee National Forest. It is a gravel road with a considerable amount of potholes, both big and small, so be aware that you will get tossed around. There is a 10mph speed limit at the beginning of the road that drives through private property. You will find a lot of camping on this road;a good spot is at Lost Lake Watercraft Launch;there are a couple of firepits and enough sites for large rigs or small groups. Farther down the road, you will find a few other camp spots, some of which require 4wd to get into, but the lake views are worth it. The end of the road becomes highly overgrown, washed out, and tight, and a vehicle will eventually not be able to fit. I suggest you turn around at the spot right before the road becomes rocky and washed out once you go up, there is no turning around. Eventually, it becomes so tight you can only walk the route.

Difficulty

A large amount of potholes, so take your time; after that the road is easy. The end of the road becomes overgrown, tight, and washed out, not recommended to continue on by mother vehicle, but you can hike, bike, or horse back.

Drove it to the intersection with Roaring Ridge Lookout. Very smooth with just a couple very small potholes. Any vehicle can drive this part. There are two spots with posted speed limits. Be considerate and slow down.

Scenic trail past the lake, a handful of other people out here on the trail. A little rutted and washed out in some places from the recent heavy rains but nothing major everything was pretty easy. No snow unfortunately I think the rain washed it away, hopefully some more snow soon

Good 2-3” of heavy snow. Plenty of traction with my k03s at normal tp (about 10k miles on them) first time going in this trail was easy. I went up a different trail that went higher up the day after and the snow has all melted

Went to lost lake for a family camping trip, took exit 62(stampede pass) and followed the gravel road all the way to lost lake, the gravel road is well maintained and had some minor pothole. Went further up the trail, a couple of small established campsites up the road but close to the road, took a left into into next biggest clearing, decent camping spot for small and big groups but going further down to the lake the ground is very steep and there a lot of bugs, recommend Camping by watercraft launch, plenty of spread out camping spots buts gets very busy.
