Trail Overview

Red Hill Spur is an intermediate connector trail between the Red Hill and Devils Gulch single tracks. The trail is very similar to the Red Hill and Red Devil trails, riding through a recent burn area with a mix of flowy hilltop riding and narrow side-hilling, but with more exposure. The trail traverses the dry grassy hillsides, overlooking the Wenatchee Mountains, making several sweeping hairpin turns and tighter switchbacks. Most of the trail is rock-free, but the dirt is loose and unstable in the burn area, with small loose rocks in spots. It mostly descends from west to east, dropping over 1,600 feet in 3.7 miles. The trail also passes several scenic rock outcroppings and giant slabs of granite that are neat to see. It connects to Devils Gulch on the south end at a wide intersection.

Difficulty

The main factor in the difficulty rating is the exposure. The trail is mostly smooth and rock-free, but there are several spots with more loose rock and loose dirt. Expect steep spots of descending, tight switchbacks, and narrow and exposed side-hilling. Since this trail goes through a burn area, it will likely require extensive log cutting in early season every year, but as of July 2026 it was clear of any logs due to extensive work from local volunteers that maintain the trails. Watch out for new log hazards.
