Trail Overview

This is a hard-packed gravel forest road that gradually climbs to near 3,000 feet in elevation. It starts wide, running alongside a creek, and there are campsites with bathrooms and bear canister food bins. The trail has washboard the higher you go, and it also becomes narrower and has some ledges and shelf-like sections. There are minor ruts and wash, but this trail is suitable for any vehicle type. The trail runs to the Pass Creek hiking trail, which is where it ends and meets another trail. Along the trail, you will have dense forest views with some views of the surrounding peaks. Camping is allowed throughout this entire trail with many dispersed campsites. The cell phone service gets weaker the further from the main road you get, and there are no amenities other than some vault-style toilets. From the beginning of this trail, you are approximately 15 miles from Metaline Falls, which is where you will find the nearest services and supplies.
