Trail Overview
Hunt Creek Road is a 2.5-mile out-and-back trail beginning at an intersection with Quilomene Ridge Road and descending into a small valley, terminating at Hunt Creek. The trail features rutted sections near the beginning, followed by areas with sharp embedded rock. The route then transitions to a shelf road for the descent, with a small washout near the start of the shelf road section. Approaching the bottom, the trail becomes tight, brushy, and off-camber in several locations. This trail is managed by the Washington Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Fish and Wildlife. A Washington State Discover Pass is required for access. Motorized vehicle use is restricted to roads marked with green dots only, as per management regulations. Hunt Creek Road is accessible year-round.
Difficulty
Starting with ruts, rocks, and a washout, then ending with tight off-camber sections, 4WD, high clearance, and good tires are highly recommended for this route. Full-size vehicles, especially those with campers, should avoid this trail due to the off-camber and narrow sections, and a lack of turnaround opportunities once the road becomes a shelf road. Weather conditions such as rain or snow can significantly impact trail difficulty. Brush encroachment may be significant during the spring and summer months.
