Trail Overview
The north end of this trail is accessed via the Quartz Mountain FS 3100 4x4 trail in the Hereford Meadow, next to two backcountry cabins. It goes south along the South Fork Manastash Creek, on a fast and flowy singletrack. The north half of the trail is pretty easy, with smooth dirt and few rocks, but it is narrow and has a few shelfy sections. There are beautiful wildflowers in the meadows. After it crosses 4W328, there are several rockier sections in the southern half of the trail, with larger embedded rock boulders and bigger embedded roots that make small drop-offs. There are also several spots where large trees have fallen, creating large holes next to the trail where the trees became uprooted, and you want to watch out for those washouts. Expect a few sections with loose, round rolling rocks all piled on top of the dirt that are chunky to ride over. The trail was mostly cleared of downfall by early summer, but there were a couple of small logs still down. The trail system is pretty well maintained and appears to be cleared of logs on most trails by early summer.
Difficulty
This trail is mostly gradual, but does have several short ledges/drop offs from the roots and embedded rocks, making it more of an intermediate route. There are also shelfy and narrow sections that are more ideal for intermediate riders.
