Trail Overview

Gumboot Mountain Trail will lead you deep into the forest. The trail is narrow--very narrow in some areas--and it has several areas where overgrowth is abundant, making for a tight squeeze with a full-sized 4x4. The trail has deep washouts, some of which are extremely off-camber. There are also plenty of deep ruts filled with water and mud along the path. The trail has areas that are eroded. Since the trail is very narrow, turn-around spots are limited, but they do exist. The trail width is generally only 1 vehicle wide with limited places to pass other vehicles. There are a few areas that could be used for dispersed camping along this trail. This is a deep forest route, so there are no spectacular views. However, if you enjoy going into the deep forest areas, then this is a fun and semi-challenging trail.

Heavy erosion, decent snow at higher elevations, and many off camber angles. If you are used to Oregon ratings be warned that this Washington level 4 would be more like an Oregon level 5 or 6 in current conditions

extremely overgrown. full size trucks will need a paint job after completing this trail. almost no obstacles while dry, just a bumpy dirt road, would be more difficult after a good rain

got rained on really hard, lots of huge potholes, many spanning the entire road. Large river running down the trail for the most part causing a deep rut. Seems awesome but we picked the wrong day! Ran into some snow at one point up the trail, which is where we turned around since we were soaking wet and cold, and were on a quad and a dirt bike. We’ll definitely be back!

Various gravel types from small to large jagged rock, lots of washouts, often narrow roads with several sections of encroaching brush/overgrowth. I went on a dry day but there were several areas where dried up puddles and water crossings are possible with prolonged heavy rain.
