Trail Overview
Goldhill is a 2.9-mile out-and-back route that follows a narrow trail through dense forest. The road features some rutting, brush encroachment, and sections where fist-sized loose rock forms the road base. Brush encroachment becomes progressively tighter higher up the trail, narrowing the corridor and limiting access for wider vehicles. The route ends just beyond a small clearing, where significant windfall and overgrowth block further travel. Goldhill is open year-round.
Difficulty
Goldhill is moderately challenging due to its narrow trail corridor, increasing brush encroachment, and uneven terrain. Some rutted sections and areas of loose fist-sized rock can make traction inconsistent, while the tight vegetation may result in pinstriping for wider vehicles. Although there are no major technical obstacles, the trail becomes increasingly restrictive as it climbs. Conditions become more difficult when wet, particularly where loose rock and rutted sections become slick. As with most trails in the area, bringing a chainsaw or equipment to clear fallen trees is recommended.
