Trail Overview

This is a basic one-lane forest road with a few split-offs to dead ends to camp and some hiking trails. Also, the trail gets narrow at points. You will get pinstripes; watch for small sticks that can pop up under your rig or car. Other than that, it's a nice easy trail to enjoy.

It’s a nice trip and a quick in elevation we happened to go before the huge rainstorm as hit us so it was foggy on views between trees but that happens…..about 1-2 miles outside the end you will hit a very rough spot, it was bad enough it had already been raining so the road definitely has taken a hit..you got to drive right between the washout roads for about .3 miles but the guys are deep..had a jeep get stuck in our group. 4 jeeps one 4Runner

Very deep ruts on the south end of the trail. VERY deep. But was able to straddle them with some good wheel placement. Also VERY over grown

OnX won’t let me specify this for some reason, but I rode my Honda CRF 300LS dual sport through it (street legal), and for the most part, it was very easy. Road can be very narrow and can be risky for full size vehicles to pass through. The main problem with this route was the ruts. They’re about a foot and a half deep and have a bell shape so the ground is very unsupported. I’d hate to be in a jeep and try to get around it. You can definitely do it, but you just gotta know exactly where your tires are. If on a dual sport like me, when you get to the ruts, STAY LEFT. Otherwise, a decent road with its share of potholes and greenery growing toward the middle of the road.

Road is very pitted and overgrown. its quite narrow in many areas. 2/3rds of the road is very overgrown. looks like someone came up and got a few trees off the road. Also looks like there have some attempts to fix some areas. It is open and unobstructed.

Coming from the south off FSR 22 the road is heavily rutted about 1 foot at the deepest. Did not think my stock height truck would make it up so I had to turn around but with some higher clearance and clever driving it might be passable . The hole sneaks up on you though, wouldn’t have seen it if I hadn’t gotten out to scout this section on foot.

Once you turn off the FS road it gets rough. Very overgrown which made it hard to pick a path through the ruts. Ruts were loose dirt in some spots, loose rock, slick grass in the center. We ended up turning around 1/2mi up after I wrecked hard. Pretty apt riders on adventure bikes. This would have definitely been better on smaller lighter dirt bikes vs 500lb KLR.

Most of the trail is pretty easy, but once you get past mile 8 it starts getting a little rough , the trail begins to narrow quick, some parts are barely wide enough for a jeep. Came back with pretty bad scratches, around mile 11 there are sections that were narrower than my gladiator. Overall on a difficulty level i would say a 2/10.

Just a few potholes until the upper gate and then things got a little sketchy really fast. I’m on 35 inch tires and scrape the differential a few times on some ruts that were absolutely huge. The road is washed out on both tracks not very deep just messy. Stopped by super heavy snow about 10” deep. I’m sure during summertime it’s a 1 on the difficulty scale.
